Knockback
Dealing knockback
Dealing the maximum amount of knockback requires your player to be moving at a minimum speed
This means you should be trying to keep your momentum as high as possible whenever you are about to get in a fight. Meaning you should try not to walk into blocks, and start your momentum early.
(even if I told you the meters per second, it wouldn't make sense)
, and you need to be sprinting. As we know, the first hit you deal while sprinting will deal the maximum amount of knockback (4 blocks). However, if you are sprinting but your momentum is moving backwards (for example you got hit), you will not deal maximum knockback.

Reducing Knockback
There are many things that go into reducing knockback. Therefore, I will list them out with brief descriptions.
Momentum - The higher your momentum or velocity is, the less knockback you will take.
CPS - The higher cps you have while clicking on an opponent, the less knockback you will take. More Info
Friction - When you are touching the ground, you take less knockback. This most commonly leads to combos when there are no blocks and no projectiles. Basically, don't jump too much in pvp unless you know your opponent won't be able to hit you.

You take less movement backwards the more times you click on the opponent while taking knockback backwards, before you get knocked far enough away from them that you can't click on them anymore.
