Minecraft Pvp 1.8 Keybinds: What Should You Use?

To answer the question brought up in the title, there isn’t a best set of keybinds that is entirely perfect for everyone. However, there might be a unique set of keybinds that are perfect for only you. So instead of using the keybinds of your favorite YouTuber, it may be a better idea to experiment with keybinds yourself and find one that works best based on your own finger girth, length, and dexterity.
Keybind Examples
As mentioned before, the keybinds shown below shouldn't be copied exactly. They are meant to show two different players (me and NeverRests) with completely different hand builds and how we approached our keybinds to accommodate our hand structures.

Explaining the Chart
For context, I have more spider-like hands, while NeverRests' hands are shorter and stubbier. This is greatly reflected in our keybinds. Despite me having larger hands, my keybinds tend to be more compact around the WASD keys, while NeverRests’ keybinds tend to be more spread out.
The reason for this is simple: my fingers are thinner and more dexterous, meaning I have an easier time hitting the keys around me. Unlike me, NeverRests’ fat fingers tend to accidentally hit E or Q, which is why he doesn’t have them bound. Likewise, his fingers aren’t flexible and long enough to easily hit the X key, unlike mine, which is also why he doesn’t have that key bound.
However, changing the bind on the E and Q keys may be a good idea, as you don’t want to accidentally open your inventory or drop an item during combat. For that exact reason, I changed my drop bind from Q to "~".
General Rules for Keybinds
Despite what I said earlier about how you should not follow a certain person’s keybinds, there are certain guidelines for creating one that you should always follow.
- Always bind the 6 to 9 hotbar slots
- Don’t bind past T G and V.
- Bind your 9 slot to your side mouse button (for rodding)
- Always Use Toggle-Sprint (Lunar Client)
Conclusion
Experiment. Experiment. Experiment. If you constantly hit a key you don’t like, change it. If there is a key that is uncomfortable, change it. If you have a naturally rebellious mood against the matrix and why they made a default key something, change it. So instead of using a keybind you saw on YouTube, find the keybinds that harmonize with your finger characteristics, allowing you to unleash your full potential in combat.
