Projectiles
Projectiles deal knockback to players, and lift them into the air. This sets their elevation higher than yours, and makes their momentum go backwards, allowing you to get the first hit without getting hit.

Double Damage Rod Timing
Use a late sword hit after a rod, then hit again as the rod’s original protection ends.

Put a ready click and sprint-jump takeoff into the last instant before melee range.
