Double Damage Rod Timing
Use a late sword hit after a rod, then hit again as the rod’s original protection ends.
Fit two sword hits around the rod window.
A rod can start the target’s short damage-protection timer. On servers with this mechanic, a stronger sword hit inside that window can deal damage without restarting the timer. Hit again just after the original window ends, and two sword hits can land close together.
This is two damage events, not a sword that suddenly deals 2× damage.
Rod. Sword. Sword.
Put the first sword hit just before the rod window ends. Put the next just after.

Rod, close in, then sword twice.
- Land a rod from a distance you can close.
- Place the first sword hit near the end of the rod’s roughly 0.5-second window.
- Stay close and hit again just after it ends.
Short bursts against a reach cheater.
Long trades favor someone using reach. A rod into two close sword hits can let you deal more damage before backing out, instead of only trading evenly. It still needs good spacing and is not a guaranteed win.
TRY THIS IN GAME: Start with rod at 0.00 s, sword near 0.40 s, then sword just after 0.50 s as a timing example. Compare early and late first hits using health changes.
