Latching
Follow the opponent after your hit. Keep clicking on their reachable hitbox to help hold your ground.
Aim past the first hit.
Latching means staying on the opponent after contact. Follow their movement while clicking instead of letting your crosshair drift away. Keep attacking their reachable hitbox throughout the exchange.
Follow the knockback.
- Read the hit angle and anticipate their first backward-and-upward movement.
- Move your aim with the hitbox as it rises and travels sideways. Follow the actual hitbox; don’t flick blindly to its predicted landing spot.
- Keep clicking while the target remains reachable. Adjust if they steer or a new hit changes the path.
Why staying connected can help.
Qualifying attacks can slow your own horizontal motion, including motion left from incoming knockback. The client also runs an attack routine locally, so that slowdown can occur without another server damage event. Tracking preserves opportunities for those attacks; air clicks do not provide the same opportunity.
The slowdown depends on sprint state and attack eligibility. It affects existing horizontal motion, leaving upward lift and the next incoming impulse unchanged. Extra slowdowns can also cost chase speed: use Hit Timing when keeping up is the priority.
You both get hit.
The opponent flies up and right. Keep following their hitbox while clicking instead of staring at the opening-hit position.
Trade hits with a friend. Track each rise and fall; review where your crosshair leaves the reachable hitbox.
Take this into your next fight.
Try the technique in-game, then come back when you’re ready.
